Dell also has ON TIME hard-coded legitimate backdoor passowrds that are protexcted with the Authenticatio System , as long as you can prove owenrship. Otherwise, carcking an 8 character password shouldnt take these guys more than a couple of hours to go through all the possible combos needed - if longer than 8 characters? Good luck, that could take up to a year and a half if complex enough. Would have to containt at least one lc, 1 UC, 1 number, and 1 special to be complex, though.

Also, more modern laptops, pull the CMOS, the MAin battery and the power for at least 5 minutes, but I have had to wait days for some laptops; Macbook Pros, High-end Dells and a lot of Lenovos mostly

Ooh, sorry, sometimes there is also a jumper in some laptops, but almost all modern desktops. Sometimes just moving the jumper correctly will bypass or erase the BIOS passcodes and challenges.

Resetting the Administrator password (easily by reinstalling windows, the ONLY things that will happen is: 1. The My Documents folder in the ROOT - not individual user nor All Users accounts - contents may get deleted (but who uses the ROOT My Documents folder?) AND 2. any and all encryption HAVING HAD BEEN USED BY WINDOWS will be UN-retrievable, unless you can know the Administrator password. The Original Main Administrator - the machine Admin. Other files that were encrypted by OTHER THAN WINDOWS Programs will still work, as long as you know the passwords to those files, of course.

Once reset, you will be able to access ALL PREVIOUSLY CREATED ACCOUNTS INCLUDING THE MACHINE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT.
